A dedicated mobile app (PWA) where your staff scan customer QR codes and process reward claims in real time. Staff authenticate with their own credentials and never need access to your main account — keeping your data secure while empowering your team on the ground.
How it works
Staff setup
- You invite a staff member via the Team Management page.
- They receive an email with a link to set their password.
- They log in to the Scanner app with their email and password.
Scanning flow
- Select account — If the staff member works for multiple businesses, they pick which one they’re scanning for. Single-account staff skip this step.
- Open camera — The scanner activates the device camera with a QR scan overlay.
- Scan reward QR — Point the camera at the customer’s reward QR code. The scanner reads it automatically.
- Review details — The screen shows the customer’s name, business name, and available reward(s).
- Confirm claim — Tap “Claim Reward” to process. If there are multiple reward options, select which one first.
- Done — A success screen with confetti confirms the claim. The scanner returns to camera mode after a few seconds, ready for the next scan.
What staff can see
When a QR code is scanned, staff see:
- Customer’s first name
- Business name
- Available reward name(s) and description(s)
- Reward claim status (available or already claimed)
Staff cannot see:
- Customer email addresses
- Customer phone numbers
- Full customer lists
- Business settings or analytics
Error handling

In all error cases, the staff member can immediately scan another QR code.
Multi-business support
Staff members can work across multiple businesses. The account selector in the app header lets them switch which business they’re scanning for at any time. This is useful for:
- Shared staff who work at multiple locations
- Seasonal workers supporting several businesses
- Events where multiple businesses share a venue
Technical details
- PWA — Works on any device with a camera and browser. No app store download required.
- Offline-resilient — The scanning interface works without real-time backend connectivity. Token validation happens at claim time.
- Firebase authentication — Staff credentials are managed through Firebase, separate from the main account’s auth.
- Duplicate scan prevention — The app tracks the last scanned URL and ignores repeated scans of the same code.
