Let customers sign up for your referral program by scanning a QR code at your location. No referral link needed, no prior knowledge of your program required — just scan, fill in the form on your profile, and they’re in. Perfect for retail, events, or any high-traffic location.

How it works

Step 1: Customer scans QR code

The customer scans the QR code displayed at your business location. This opens your public Business Referral Profile, which has a signup form built right into the page.

Step 2: Complete the form

On the profile page, the customer fills in:

  • First name (required)
  • Last name (required)
  • Email (required)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Consent to become an advocate (required)

Consent is mandatory — if the customer doesn’t agree to the terms, the form won’t pass validation and they won’t be activated.

Step 3: Instant activation

On submit, the customer is activated immediately. Their referral link and Advocate Play Panel appear right there on the page — no email round-trip needed. They also receive a welcome email confirming their signup, and any configured Activation Reward is granted on the spot.

What returning customers see

If a customer scans the QR code but is already registered:

  • Not yet activated: They can complete the form to activate and get their referral link.
  • Already active: They can recover access to their existing referral link by entering their email on the profile page.

This means the QR code always works, even for existing customers who’ve lost their link.

Key details

  • Consent required — Activation only completes when the customer explicitly opts in to become an advocate.
  • Consent tracking — When a customer opts in, the system records the timestamp, IP address, and explicit consent flag for compliance.
  • Unsubscribe respected — If a customer previously unsubscribed, their preference is honored.
