Explains what counts as a “new customer” in your reports — and why it may differ from your payment or booking totals.
How it works
A customer is counted as “new” the first time their record is created in LeadBounty — not when they make a payment.
| Source | Counted as new when… |
|---|---|
| Square / Shopify import | Integration finds someone never imported before |
| Manual entry | You add them to LeadBounty |
| Referral signup | They activate via your referral link |
| Returning customer pays again | Not counted — record already exists |
Square sync note
Square syncs create a customer record upon booking, not transaction — so a booking made in the future will appear as a new customer if it’s their first time.
Outcome
You can confidently read your analytics reports knowing that “New Customers” reflects genuine first-time additions to your LeadBounty database — not repeat transactions or payments.
Tips
- If your “new customers” count looks higher than expected, check whether a bulk import or Square/Shopify sync ran that day — imports count as new customers
- If the count looks lower than your payment totals, it is likely because some customers were already in your database from a previous visit
- Use the Referred Customers metric alongside New Customers to see how many of your new additions came through your referral program
